He's answered your ad you so carefully placed on the internet personals as you trimmed it with lace You start out with e-mails that you bounce back and forth for days upon end a bottomless source progressing to chatting directly on-line share smiley faces for hours of time In front of the computer He's perched on his chair eating your thoughts as you're both well aware You're belting out words the works of your mind that come from your heart as you type every line He's forming an opinion of what you look like you're lost in the visions of each letter he strikes You're both falling deeply into the screen's glare the glow of enchantment's hypnotical stare You've begun to imagine the feel of his kiss the touch of his hand the moments of bliss You advance to the phone with your voices to share trading statistics such as color of hair Fed now with sound mental images are formed draped by the words as you're hearts become warmed A date soon is set so that you both can meet you pound with excitement of the time you first greet The tension is mounting anticipation's rising your expectations are continually apprising Suspense holds you prisoner till your eyes finally touch doomed for disaster you've expected too much Even if photos had been previously exchanged it's only flat paper it's just not the same How sad that the mind paints a picture more grand and reality sketches a portrait more bland Disappointment ensues when you finally see they weren't quite what you thought they would be You politely agree to continue the date both of you concur you can't stay out too late And so goes the pattern of the highs and the lows of internet dating as everyone knows All of these letdowns you miraculously survive till the love of your life finally arrives When you've all but exhausted the internet ads and all of the blunders and disappointments you've had Then suddenly in the wake of the waves of your tears the love you have dreamed of suddenly appears You're internet lover shared the words of your soul the searching is over your half is now whole. ~ |
