Pinocchio Smiles

Where were you while I was curled up against down cushions, soaking in wine so smooth that it wrapped your tongue in gold?  Love dismissed you, away to speak and rant German words with no meaning.  Those very same words vaccinated each one of you from EVER feeling that contented again.  I thought of you during MY date with love's liquid.  Matter of fact, I even asked about YOU.  Sadly, I know the moment is lost on frantic demons, surfacing in the wee hours of twilight.  But, I had a grand time.  Each pleasant incident was surely a thought or a second replayed from the past.  Where were you when my red car was parked out back?  I saw no telltale lights to mark your presence.  Is your fury dimmed?  Darling boy, I dream of you.  I think of no other man fit to fill HER void.  Sadly, I sense the era has come to an end.  Smack me down with drivel; fill me with nonsense.  She has the security of Pinocchio, smiling down from mantels way up high.  He will comfort cold souls in winter's dreary dusk.  Funny how wooden boys so easily take the place of fleshy buffoons?
