Staring out these old, plain windows Their paint chipping, losing its luster I am instantly awestruck by nature's wonder As snowflakes fall, My eyes shimmer with ethereal light I shiver, re-experiencing childish delight Gingerly, I swung open the door as a thousand times enveloped by the past, I have invited the wind to rush inside. They force shut my eyes, prickling upon my face slowly I lift up my hands drifting down, snowflakes colliding with my fingers I absorbed each one, surrendering myself allowing these wet kisses to romance my senses. With eyelids closed, I soon remembered In snowflake splendor you once pelted me with an incessant touch As then with fingertips light as feathers you caressed my lips I drew in enormous gasps attempting to regain composure and stop this thawing within. Tears began rolling down, scorching my cheeks as they flowed I brushed them away to gradually open my eyes discovering I had weathered the blizzard of you. Now as the snowfall approaches once more, I'll keep striking flint In hopes of igniting the embers of a new spring's love A puddle of you is all that is left upon my doorstep Soon you will evaporate leaving me to my own devices and these cold, harsh memories. Until the thermostat drops to December, In my heart you'll remain In dreams I'll remember you... My snowflake splendor. ~Max~ 12/16/01 *originally posted on November 26, 2001.
