I peer into the mirror to see what I might see a reflection that's almost painful for what I see - is me I see the flaws, the spider bite the not so perfect skin a pimple from a chocolate shake the plump that once was thin The crooked cut of hair I have my darkened sleepless eyes my faulty teeth with impish space I look and heave a sigh I pull the shade and dim the light ah yes, that's better yet the darkness of reflected light is the best that I can get Through the corner of my vision I see a figure staring from the hallway - thru the door two eyes just plainly glaring I turn to see you smile at me with pleasure in your eyes how long have you been watching me I'm really quite surprised You leap toward me with open arms as you grab and squeeze me tight assuring me of how you feel you whisper soft and light Telling me of how I look and the way I make you feel You say, that I'm so beautiful I say, "come on - get real " It must be the tilt of your sight the angle of your view a different refraction of the light and how it looks to you For you see beauty, where I see moles no symmetry of style what you see in my pouty lips is a mona lisa smile Mirror mirror on the wall I love this new disguise your angle and your tilt of glass make me look good in his eyes ` |
