LOVE'S LOST SADNESS Come four A.M. black stillness keep. Long-shadowed nights, dreaded fear to sleep. To battle once more mind's bleak darkness deep, Neither wrong nor right, left 'lone to weep. Left 'lone again with unsated desire, What can I do to unflame this fire? A dream turned nightmare consuming flesh and soul, In misery I toil - maddening sadness my toll. Another day perhaps - or two, maybe three, No call forthcoming - no face to see. Sweet embrace gone unanswered - a decaying memory Of blue-green eyes oft framed by love, A sight to all but lost to me. |
