Is It Really True

I thought we decided to only be friends,
"Our lives are to busy" is what you said.
"Besides, long distant relationships never work" is how you continued.
So I agreed, not wanting to but wanting to make you happy.
We talk on the phone every night,
And leave each other e-mails every day.
Talk about our dreams and problems,
Our day to day trials and achievements.
Even our dates we go on and how bad they were,
saying that we just weren't in the mood to go out or that there was no "spark" or attraction there.
I recieved the e-mail you sent me yesterday,
The sweetest one you've ever sent.
But yet, I cried while reading it.
I must have read it twenty times or more to make sure I read it right and that I didn't misunderstand.
But those three words can't be mistaken.
They can only mean one thing.
"I Love You" is what you wrote,
and at the end you signed "Please love me forever"
I cried so hard, I couldn't make myself stop.
So long I have waited to hear you say that.
But you see, I cry because last night I know you went out,
and I know you were drinking and you always drink too much.
Do people always tell the truth when they are drunk?
That's what I've always heard, so is it really true?
Oh God, please help me,
What if he says he is sorry,
and that he was talking out of his head?
What if he only said that because he was drunk,
and what if he doesn't really love me afterall?
Or is it really true?
