The Happiness Tax

The Happiness Tax

I have a theory, that God or whoever has placed a sort of tax upon happiness. It's a bit like Newtons Law of every action having an equal and opposite reaction.
When things are going brilliantly for you, you know that eventually, something (not necessarily related to your present happiness) will go wrong.
Sometimes, I think I get Gods point.
After all, would we be able to appreciate the value of true happiness if we had it all the time?
The same way that we wouldn't appreciate a lie in on a weekend if we had one everyday. Or maybe even love if we'd never suffered a broken heart.
At least, that's the way I try to think about it. Otherwise, I'd go mad. So when things are completely and utterly shit, and I'm wondering what else can go wrong, I console myself with the thought that something bloody damn good is going to happen in the future to balance it.
And thankfully - so far - it always has.
