We've been walking for many years now There have been several rocky roads and swamps I sometimes thought we would trip and fall or get sunk in But we're still here, treading on Deserts have drenched us dry. The sun has taken it's toll We finally reach a valley with cool green grass Flowers are in abundance. The sky is blue and crystal clear. Water flows like there is no tomorrow. But there is a tomorrow. You ask if we can stay. I tell you no. I see the confusion on your face and I began to explain: Me: There is a mountain far off into the distance. We must climb it. He: But why? Why can't we just stay here? Me: Look around you. There are other lovers among us. They too have traveled a long journey, but notice those who walk alone. They chose to remain, blinding themselves to the truth. He: What truth? Me: The truth of love, life, and joy. You cannot stay here and expect eternal bliss. Trust me. If we refuse to go up this mountain, we will pay a great price. He: Will this journey ever end? Me: No, it will not. But not to worry my love. There are many more valleys in between the mountains we will have to climb, and we will revel in them to our heart's content. He: You promise? Me: I promise. |
