Imperfections

I see the way you ogle the beautiful ones,
The ones with the perfect hair, perfect skin -
Perfect bodies....
Their breasts always seem to be standing at attention
Eternally perky...
Their smooth, untarnished young bodies,
Hard, flat stomachs, just right in their bikinis.
Not a pimple in the world
Would ever dare to mark their flawless faces.
I see you stare as they walk by -
And I wonder -
Do you wish I looked that way too?
Do you wish my stomach were minus one baby
Smooth and flat, not a stretch mark to be seen?
Do you sometimes close your eyes and pretend
That you are with one of the "Bunnies"
That you drool over in the magazines?
Do you sometimes wish that you had not fallen in love
With a 30 year old, instead of a 20 year old?
Will you still love me even when my 30-year imperfections
Have turned into my 40-year disasters?
Or will you long for the beautiful ones
That I see you staring at
Even now.
