I could trust you if I believed you, And when you asked me if I did, I said yes, But the truth is-- I lied. You questioned me in a silent fashion, Careful to leave yourself untold, As you begged the secrets from me-- I couldn't help but deny Everything in your eyes. You took me down From your sometimes conveinent pedestal, Just to show me what I was doing wrong, And to tell me how you'd do it, And rest assured, you'd do it better-- Even Goddesses are not perfect. But you look to break me, Or take me, Or...something that I cannot name, You change, Or your desire changes, And your motivations are all but clear. There's nothing in your veins But blood, And that's what scares me the most-- All the things that you're missing, And you don't even realize that they're gone. You've stolen one too many Hearts, Broken one too many rules, But just in case you get caught, You've always got someone to blame-- And it's always good to have a back up plan, Because nothing's simple anymore. |
