after the fire

the giant redwoods, they survived,
  so know these feelings aren't contrived;
    once and future, we should have survived!

now here we are, head bowed in meditation,
  asking you again for earthly mediation;
    can't you see, I need some consideration?

ashes to ashes, and no longer a wife;
  dust to dust, now a sad widow with strife --
    'til death do us part .... should I want a life?

after the fire, yes, some say we started,
  was our time together not good hearted;
    tell me, why are you gone, dearly departed?
