IF WISHES WERE HORSES
One day love rears its head,
and you put a halter on it,
instead of loving it free,
in your field where it was born.

I WISHED FOR HORSES
One day love rears its head
And you put a halter on it
Instead of loving it free
In your field
Where it was born
But I wished for horses to ride
Like a Dunsany wild thing
Haltering Pegasus, I flew
Beyond fields and dreams
You watched me soar
Neither slowing the other
Free in our field
Until love alone held us
Then me alone to fondle
This halter each never used
