Neuromance

Gotta love the convenience of this modern technology; it's made pick-up lines obsolete,
If you wanna find someone who's just your type, you don't even have to leave your seat.
Clear off your busy social schedule and log on, my friend, seems everyone is dialed in,
And the next person will declare their undying love for you, though you're not sure when.
It's so easy to click with someone you've never met; everything they say must ring true,
In the absence of real intimacy, there's always a phone, and I believe this call's for you.

Ah, the digital revolution has arrived; anyone can have a chance to be privately obscene,
I'd rock your world if we weren't separated by two thousand miles and a computer screen.
Countless headshots and emoticons; what better ways to reach out and touch someone?
Had I enough hands to man keyboard and webcam together there'd be no end to our fun.
It's a paradise for the anonymous and a perfect way for the geeks to do as never before,
This time it might involve the opposite sex without their left hand available to keep score!

There are more people on the Earth that know nothing of the Internet than those who do,
Give nerds enough time and they'll replicate the population boom before they're through.
I'd ask her out for dinner and drinks, but that would interrupt her chat room rendezvous,
Just a moment while she aims her camera down so Mr. Right gets himself a better view.
I admit my fascination at the concept of neuromance; greatest thing since sliced bread?
And do pardon my ignorance, but just how can people sleep with a monitor in their bed?
