And Over Again

Tell me, would you allow yourself the luxuries of a dream?
Weighing the risks of wishes against the ways things seem?
For my own sanity, I've often shelved things I've yearned,
In favor of pursuits that bore results I believe I earned.
As the childlike joy of imagination still tickles my fancy,
Advances of time and age again conspire to leave me antsy.

Many miles away from knowing, you are left but to lament,
Or perhaps gain perspective on things you cannot prevent.
But regardless of any chasm, or longest reach of a heart,
You cannot will away circumstance or unite the far apart.
And I'm no stranger to the feeling, know it all too well,
Just couldn't help but wonder where the last pieces fell.

As for what I prayed could occur, I've said all my piece,
I'll remain true to my promise that it might never cease.
For what will occupy your time, may it be always blessed,
Never to be tainted by this frustration I have confessed.
Always remember how loved you are through these eyes,
That in due time you might have your own dream to realize.
