Reish, Part II

We must have been lovers in a past life
Or perhaps as husband and wife
As cow and hen

You must have been the murderer and I the murdered
Or perhaps you were the monk and I the nun

We must have been strangers in a past life
Even though there would have been such closeness
Such familiarity
Of family

We must have been
Strangers of the intimate kind
To see hollow shells of oysters
In each others eyes

Maybe I was Job and you were Gd
-with the old proverb of the circle
-our roles switched around

And I pray for you--I kiss you with my eyes, over your eyes
Over your mouth, over your cheeks
The mountains and peaks
