Devil's Due Blues

It the first night of they forever, an' you know weren't no sleepin',
Sure as Hell no thoughts cross minds who done come a-creepin',
But he feel somethin' wasn't right in that room, chills all 'round,
Not even his six sense could put finger on what his instincts found.
Then he see terror in her eyes, like nothin' man ever beheld before,
Turnin' head sharp to gets a glimpse, stood that Devil at they door.

First thought hit his mind was to run, but what good would that do?
He come for some unholy reason, an' wouldn't leave 'til he through.
Then they visitor point at the woman, an' beckon her to come along,
An' his heart beat through his throat to what must have gone wrong.
Gettin' ready to fight to his death, he felt her hand on his chest,
Tears all over her face, she kiss him deep, sayin' it for the best.

Protestin' long an' loud, he ask her what she done to make this so,
She kiss him one last time, sayin' nothin' more than it time to go,
She strode toward the door, Devil produced paper t'show him why,
He look at the writing on it, and his last bit o' faith burned dry.
'Cause he'd sold his soul to have her, if just for one night alone,
Hearin' what he done, she agree to trade hers if it save his own.
