To Be Continued

The prying eye would catch them giggling, playfully roughhousing like a pair of tiger cubs,
For each time he tried to sneak a kiss and failed, her reward was an hour of sensual rubs.
She danced around his bedcovers like a butterfly, evading his grasp with her gleeful tease,
As if acknowledging his defeat, all of his movements stopped, his body seemed to freeze.
Facing a statuesque pursuer, curiosity overcame her and she couldn't help but draw near,
He smiled and pounced upon her, tickling her mercilessly as both laughed through a tear.

All of a sudden it stopped, as quickly as it had started; she sat up, lost look in her eyes,
Then her gaze turned toward him and he saw waterfalls of realization take her by surprise.
His arm curled around her in reassurance, and he placed a kiss gently upon her forehead,
In what seemed an eternity, their embrace mixed whispers of love with the sense of dread.
It seemed they held on for dear life, each passing moment drawing them closer to an end,
But you couldn't tell through the moonlight; their forms become one as an incarnate blend.

Though her muffled lament, an idea formed in his mind; he looked down upon her face,
He wrapped his hands within hers and glanced upward, saying they'd always have a place.
When she asked him what he meant, he smiled and asked her for a promise if she would,
To meet him on the other side of forever when they came to the point where Heaven stood.
A smile formed on her face; she nodded her ascent and sealed their pact with this prayer;
"Before God, a vow we will always share; where this is to be continued, we shall be there."
