TOGETHER AS ONE

Now you imagine life as one
long necklace of pearls.
Each was an event in being,
from which you learned.

You picked each, those pearls
and the length of the strand,
as you would memories.
Pearls of wisdom.

Somewhere on that strand
hangs a diamond; and may
be a finely cut diamond,
in whatever shape desired.

Or, another jewel or diamond
in the rough. It is up to you
to go for real pearls or fake,
diamond, gem, glass, or mirror.

It should be up to both of you
how you admire that diamond.
See a sparkle of it in his eyes,
him lost in a gift of your smile.

Expensive treasures to guard.
Then again, together as one,
be the most happy in sharing
a seashell of love on a string.
