Plastic and Glass

Walk the beach with me
Feel the sand between your toes
The warm waves lap at our feet
The waters caress like a the hands of a thousand lovers

The water green against a blue sky
The sand as white as sugar
The sunshine in your hair
The soft touch of my hand in yours

The wind in our hair
The adventures we share
The love and passion in your touch
The power of unbridled emotion

Our footprints wash away with the tide
Does this mean we never walked there?

Or does it mean that our love never was?
It means that the world and life go on

Two lovers meet with a common sadness
Two dreamers find dreams in plastic and glass
and the reality of love is not what they sought
Only the dream, through the rays of a burning CRT

The flowers grow wilted and sparse
The sound of the laughter fades
But the memories, the pain, the sadness, the guilt
grow and become a barrier which cannot be dismissed

The world does not exist beyond the walls I've built
My view is filtered through plastic and glass

Passion and breathless love await in cyberspace
Dreams and emotions too powerful to understand
Love is unreachable for those too frightened
of a world not plastic and glass.
