TO MISTI, with love (continued)

You mention folks leaving Blender: www.stevehay.com is artdog, and he's gone on to work hard on his creative side. Toklas/medusa has posted on many poetry boards, and was instrumental in that Talk City award to me. She is an amazing poet, who also posts as Barbara Lee at Melic Review. Find some old Blender poets at Post Poems, disquietingmuses, and many other noted poetry e-zines. I used to provide links to many of these online and real-time publications from my websites. I try to keep up with interesting poets beyond Blender. Gala knows Dr. C.E. Chaffin of Melic and The Left Coast. C.E. and Diane di Prima were nominated for the first poet laureate's of California, which Luke Breit (Sublette's Barn and Sacramento Poetry Calendar) helped host. Breit gave me a "blown away" review on a work of mine that still has me grinning (on INDECISION). C.E. loved my SHEWOLF. I know di Prima, and have some work on Litkicks, where I asked the webmaster to feature a new website of her's since she is a major "Beat Poet" of the original bunch of Ginsberg and the like. Still, with all these very fine poets I know, I come post at Blender. I really like it at Blender. I had quite a row with doctors when in the hospitals for cancer surgery and treatments because I was denied a computer to get online, and told it was in my best interest for my health ... grrrrr ... and they were right at the time. Still, I missed it here ... and I missed the first sushi arguments, so was unaware of the problems on the board when I first got back to Blender. There is a bit of democracy and kindness with this community with Kirk's kind hand here. We all learn a bit of each other in compliments and squabbles. There is more than love poetry written here, there is actually love in this community.

So Misti, if you think we'll just let ya go, think again. Chris is certainly your biggest fan, but with love and admiration, we are crowding in right behind him. Unless a by-line (edited) journalist, don't expect money from your writing and it won't hobble your creativity. If you are worrying about your immortality, read the story of Miss Emily D. and The Atlantic Monthly. Dorothy Parker was often given hell for her quips and pans, but only got stronger to be greatly admired today. Many poets are never valued until they are gone. I am sure Kirk would release any work you have written provided a publisher wants to use it. He has done that giving of first rights to (c) in his Blender disclaimer. He would be the last person to keep you (or anyone else here) from being published. I've worked as journalist / advertiser / author / printer / publisher / distributor ... so I'm not just rattling on about this since I have already been there and done that on this stuff. I learned the rules and then southern rebel, break them in writing -- and still get some praise. So the world is out there waiting for you to entertain it, Misti. More power to you. I have enjoyed watching all the poets stretch and grow here, much like siblings or children I would care to nurture. I love seeing a young talent emerge with far more spunk than I can now muster. Bravo to you! You take care. I am sure you will do well, but I always have believed that in what I've seen of you. Love to you, my poetic friend ..... Rennie
