The First Time I Saw You... You were walking towards your goal Slowly turning to avoid the crowd But it wasn't about where you were going Or from which direction you had come from It was the way you were walking So assured and yet so gentle Not even harming an ant on the road Not even stepping on a small stone You were thinking about something Deep in the alleys of time and thought But it wasn't about what you were questioning Or what answers you were looking for It was that look on your face So meditative and yet so attentive Not even ignoring a fly passing by Not even blinking to miss a moment of time You were smiling at everybody Acknowledging others as they came to your side But it wasn't about who you were meeting Or the gesture you were expressing It was the way you were greeting So briefly and yet so deeply Not even pausing before penetrating ones eyes Not even staring before affecting ones breathing Breaking hearts even without speaking! |
