When love was a Goddess, they gave her two forms because her brilliance was visible twice in the sky of every year. In the Month we call May, she rises before the dawn, the last bright thing shining before the sun returns. In the Month of October, she is the midnight jewel, crisp and clear and beckoning, the sweet whisper of the unknown, soft promises to be filled beneath covers of darkness, and covers of down. The day star looks at love with the calm acceptence of intellect, seeing it plain without dancing shadows. The night star sees something else, in the quiet of a still night, more akin to basic hunger than thought. Between the two, Is the truth of Venus, love without false hope and illusion, but still the wonder of a child for whom the dancing stars are ever a delight. Each holds in their heart half of the knowing. Day Star, Night Star, trying to piece together the great puzzle of the Cosmos. |
