Chris Ann the Mum was very quiet
by her husband's forced liturgy diet
no flowery lyrics were ever heard
nothing too colorful in her word
Jack in the Pulpit didn't ever let her try it

When he met her, she was very prim
the perfect little woman for him
but soon he strayed
by the devil was waylaid
and now he's doing hard time, eight to ten

DISCLAIMER: When I was a kid (I swear, I was a good child ... well, maybe swearing is the wrong word here), my grandmother (Maggie Rebecca) often volunteered my talents with piano and singing for her Wednesday church ladies' day volunteer group. Until, I talked a younger sister into joining me for a rousing rendition of *"Satan's Child" one memorable time. Poor Granny was too afraid to ever risk having us sing again, or recite any poetry. When I was older, we shared some fun limericks :) *"Satan's Child was a raving beauty, heart as black as a raven's wing" .... "they hung poor John for being just a man, but he was tempted more than any man could stand" ... hey, I was a kid, nobody had really explained THAT temptation to me! ..... Rennie
