Lady Libby and Her Torch

Call me Libby
For I carry a torch

Wonder if he sees it
When hes driving by?
Lighting up his southern sky

I chose to be alone
No more waiting by the phone
It stopped ringing long before

Knowing he will never come
Became easier to accept than
Wondering when he would appear

Sounds odd I know
But it's just me and the torch
Here safely on my porch
Burning bright
Warning ships in the night

Go back, go back
Its not safe here
In my harbor

Its jagged
Worn with time
Should have seen it
In her prime

Polished, new fearless
She was quite the harbor
But alas no more

Past uses have left her worn
Tired with time
She retires to her room
For another sleepless night
Dreaming of ships she missed
In the night
