EACH IMPORTANT GRAIN (correction)

EACH IMPORTANT GRAIN
Life In An Hourglass

When I was very small
there was a time
I tried to catch each
grain of sand as you
trickled it through
tiny eager fingertips
learning to be patient
because you taught me

You would give me
a chance to catch
each sparkling grain,
finally satisfied
that only with your help
somehow I had
held them all ...
each important grain

I am grown now,
and you are gone
someone else realizes
the significance
the importance
of this hourglass to me
helping me hold
each important grain

of life, every moment
our lives held close,
and this is how I knew
that you loved me ...
and so does this new
kind and caring man,
in beach walks, who
passionately loves me

Father's Day:
A father, son, husband tribute to those deceased.
A thanks to another who understands this need
and now cares to fill it
