In Blue

Moonlight; for an instant it shone far brighter than the sun, reflective as was I,
Like me also in the way it so often illuminated the paths of the willing passerby.
Centerpiece of a vast solitude, a twin to many of my memories, so often alone,
Ascending just long enough to realize that wish of having a place to call its own.
Shift; end the night, come bright sparkle of another day; might I see you again?
Perhaps if I plant a kiss on your cheek in the starlight I won't have to ask when.

Known the adrift have I; looked upon every horizon to see nothing but open sea,
Depending upon my currents, it was utter freedom or all I would ever hope to be.
Reach into the waters so cool, if but to know there's an end to depths somewhere,
Or point towards the skies for the sake of imagination; what could stop me there?
Something touches me now, a little gust of refreshment, remind me of ports; call,
Each journey has destination even if you can't fathom how far you are from it all.

Yearn for something solid to grasp within your hand, grains of terra firma, ground,
If I shall set foot in her promised land I'll endure whatever comes this time around.
Lean back in my craft and gaze high into the pure azure above, my eyes as guides,
I came from the ferocity of mortal storms to rest comfortably in these languid tides.
Here and now I am cradled by waters endlessly gentle, as if I were engulfed in blue,
Perhaps I'll never find my way ashore, but where better to be so lost than within you?
