Baby's gone away for good She's packed her bags and left this place Nothin here is ever gonna change Just the same old gossip and sorry faces She left this city without sayin a word Stuffed her life inside one lil' suitcase. I think she had enough of this town 'Cause Baby's gone & left without a trace. I thought I saw her at the station Waitin for the 1am to come into town Thought I saw her cryin on the bench When she thought nobody was around. I went out checkin if anyone knew Billy said he saw her on Highway 35 She was wearin that old blue dress Thought she might be hitchin a ride. Annie said she ain't been right for a while Said she needed to get outta here and couldn't stay But Annie never found out why And now Baby's gone away. Rumor has it that she had a broken heart Was tired of bein everybody's fool Her lover up and left her abandoned Never told her they was through.
