Remember The Days

Crossroads: we've been this way before, but not together, until now, so far apart,
Raise respective voices to carry over din of all the things forgotten from the start.
Reversal; he's the one throwing accusations, she the one standing furious ground,
Once the scribe who etched praises everywhere, lyrical assassin this time around.
Misunderstanding; not to destroy what he loves, but to understand walls upthrown,
Repetitive revolutions of questions, drill; enrage, dig deeper still, exposed to bone.

No more; looks over shoulder reach hindsight horizons, remembering best of days,
When all we ever wanted was never again believing we'd contemplate parting ways.
Hand in hand, hearts in sync; you returned every wink in remembering a first night,
Geminied destinations, here as well as in Hell, where you go I go, giggling in delight.
And oh, our eyes; when we talked of the penetrating legacies we'd pass on so soon,
They sit waiting, contemplating, as you and I in dreams; meant to be, different tune.

We've each wasted time, thrown away love to people undeserving; let it not be here,
If your best was given to me only for the time I was blessed to possess it, so endear.
So I look down the road, see uncertainty ahead; nothing new to me, still think of you,
Wonder if there's a place we could go as we did once before where nobody else knew.
I kiss it, for I do miss it; think of my favorite part of your person; look me in the eye,
Let your imagination run as free as our forever once reigned; we never said goodbye.
