i laid in arms both old and new, my heart beating gently at ease, completely taken by the total of you, these eyes the shade of the sea, breathing slowing once again to be held so near by one so dear, a heart I knew as "friend". So unlike the ones I'd known, so very warm this delight, not so very unlike my own I found with you this night. And words were just a bit of breath, for they could not describe the sutble comfort that you give, and let me drink inside. How you held me long and sure, and never pulled away as if all time had stopped for you, as if I owned this day. And now I smile with distant glaze, and keep the warm you gave--- as if you had a mission dear, a heart you meant to save. And now I wonder,smiling still if when you poured such heady wine you also paused to drink you fill and was the vitnage mine? |
