weddings, arcade games and gardenia's

The wedding was fabulous!

All but one of the guests went in some form of costume. To much surprise, I was the only wench amongst them. In fact the celebrant (who was also dressed in theme) commented that I looked the part of the bawdy wench, even if my mop hat kept falling off.

The groom wore chain-mail and looked amazing, his outfit included an engraved sword which he presented to the bride during the ceremony, it was then used to cut the cake later in the evening. They had several different Celtic/medieval rituals during the ceremony each of which the celebrant explained  -- one where they got handfasted, another where the groom presented the bride his sword and then they jumped over it, another where they poured mead into a cup and sipped from it, and yet another where they where presented icons from the four elements (earth, water, air, fire) by the four members of bridal party who each represented north, east, south and west.

The bride (Theshia -- who is responsible for Ross and I meeting on xanga all those moons ago) looked absolutely amazing, I wish I had photos. Her dress was stunning, and she looked absolutely radiant.

Thesh's grandparents grow flowers for florists, and so the flowers where stunning, Theshia thanked her grandfather for coxing poinsettia to grow in November 'just because she wanted them too' which was quite amazing, because it's summer here in Australia, and poinsettia is normally a winter flower -- in fact, it'll probably be in season in the USA in a few weeks.

The castle was amazing, it even had a moat. Ross and I wanted to wait til after the reception and go and play (*cough* snog *cough*) in the maze, however if we wanted to leave the tavern after dark we had to be accompanied by the beef-eater, which foiled that plan.

On Sunday, Mum, TK and I went to the South Melbourne Markets, while Ross and Dad went to a pinball/arcade game auction that was on, Ross managed to pick up a WWE arcade style wrestling game, which is his Christmas present from me.

After the auction Ross and Dad met the three of us in the markets and we picked up a few things for the house, Mum wanted to buy one of my paintings, so I told her the going price for a painting was a gardenia for my garden, so we got two gardenia's and a frangipani, as well as a rosemary plant for the herb garden, and a new lucky bamboo plant to replace the one I killed (Ross still calls me the bamboo killer!).

I took heaps of photos of the plants which my mother has put in my newly made back garden and the paving my father did. Particularly the frangipani, which is flowering and looks beautiful.

I also took photos of my folks, and of the flower I made (one of my cosmo's I planted about a month ago, had flowered) ... the first flower that I've actually cultivated myself. Hurrah!

On Sunday, I also accidentally deleted all of the photos I took. *blush*

Oppsies.
