| Last night I ventured into town,something I,ve not done for a long time.The places I used to frequent have all changed, the friends and faces I used to see I guess much like myself no longer feel comfortable there anymore,guess we all got older.After a few Buds and JDs I decided to call it a night and strolled back home through town,on the way I passed a restaurant bar and decided a last drink somewhere quiet would be nice.Sitting on the bar stool I could see into the restaurant area and a couple sat at a corner table caught my eye,just a couple out for a meal.A bottle of wine was on the table and having looked at the price list it wasn,t cheap and the food from experience though good was also pricey.On a Saturday night if a couple are out for a meal together they are either celebrating or its a first date.Either way he was a perfect gentleman,he poured her wine,stood when she left and came back to the table and helped her on with her coat when the meal was done and they were leaving.As they walked out the door she looked at me and mouthed the word "SORRY".I was unaware she had seen me there and surprised that after all these years she knew I still loved her. |
