i saw a little girl at the nutcracker ballet
she was dressed in fabulous red velvet and a tiara
she knew exactly how beautiful she was
no apologies or modesty
no fearful glances or tugs on her dress
she just beamed like a spotlight
and soaked up the admiration
i long for the confidence of an eight year old
