The Moment of Wobbly McGillis

Said he couldn't outrun a dead snail, tryin' and a-cryin' to no avail, his knees always bucklin',
He's a-wantin' to go right then trippin' over everything in sight, everyone wind up a-chucklin'.
Such was life for Wobbly McGillis, crazy legs extraordinaire; one step ahead, two feet behind,
Even if the whole world laughed at the awkward path he traversed he never seemed to mind.
Had the broadest smile you ever saw, never awoke to a bad day, tipped his hat at ladies fair,
So goodnatured a man he never even reminded anyone how impolite it was to stop and stare.

Doctors wanted to perform miracles on him with special equipment, he declined, accepted fate,
Believed there's sufficient reasons to every so-called affliction, even if he was perpertually late.
We get to where we need to be eventually, he reasons, God given him gait 'twas good enough,
Besides, everyone else being in an all-fire hurry most of time meant they ignore the finer stuff.
Come time o' year for Sadie Hawkins dance, turnaround courtesy as women ask men to sway,
Whole town bristle in anticipation at this year's featured attraction: Harmonica Sam gonna play.

Saturday night small town Delta get-together, oh, they love to let loose, spin to forget the day,
Mighty harpist brought his finest musical accompaniment to allow them to stroll the night away.
But his rhythm was so sublime nobody kept proper time; each note jumped at a frenzied pace,
None of those bedazzled prancers could strut sufficient answers to prevent a collective disgrace.
Except for one; Wobbly found himself entranced, now his legs advanced with magic in his move,
At last his neighbors cheered as a human corridor cleared; proof we've each that unique groove.
