It's a sinner's symphony-- The whimsy of grace That shudders from the inside out; He has the kind of smile That makes me believe. It's a lukewarm warning That love is soon to follow-- So I've got to stand my ground or run: Not all diamonds are forever. Clever--isn't it? This interplay Of wildness and innocence, Two indifferent circumstances Lost in what we say. I cannot stay. But don't stir A second, else destiny be disturbed, And these torrid, tangled moments Will then be called another name, One more dangerous then the first. Truth comes in many colors, And some, the heart is not meant to see, Yet I tread too softly here, in defense Of this hallowed ground--I trespass sweetly, In the arms of a moment That has yet to belong to me. |
