bittersweets

it was as if something died inside
the loss of innocence, open wide
the ripeness, newness of first love

a lifelong ride in comfortable contentment
turned into the most bitter disappointment
no, left behind; never to have firsts again

what a sin...no, a shame, not mortal
but the loss of the ability to begin
we only manage later to simply "fall in"
