Aegina

I am Aegina's stronghold,
bereft,
in the throes of my own detriment.
My walls that stood fast for thousands of years
lie in crumbles and
my heart, as old as the century that passed me by.
I look unto the sun,
hoping you'll understand
that I can no longer see you.
That my heart was eaten away by time,
by hurt,
by your selfishness,
by your arrogance...

and you look at me in awe of what I have become.
Yet I never look back,
for I know I shall only look down,
and your shame will be unmatched.

So why not just sail away,
I wish you would just leave,
and hope you see the desolation
that has built up around me,
crying out, begging for your close.
