BOARD GAMES

BOARD GAMES

Just cleaned this bedroom up a tad
and thought of all the fun we had
sheets are torn, the pillow's fluffed
the pup's moved out, had enough

old bed's rocking, it sure needs fixin'
a last bedspread has ripped stitchin'
old iron swag lamp's coming loose
from nightly monopolies, our excuse

the nightly games were fun like this
but in reality we've never kissed
or dealt cards, checkers, monopoly
what makes you think this is free!

still, you offer me another fake $20
is this illegal taking play money?
I pick an avenue, break my bank
and sell you my house over thanks

oh, then you lose your boat and car
did you ever wanna go this far?
Jim, I warned you far and square
"he's" the only game where I care

hey, come out from under the porch
before I light this corn cob torch
and quit placing bets you can't cover
or I'm going on back to my lover !!

the night's a'wastin' slappin' skeeters
messin' with games, poetry cheaters
'n, furthermore, and more to boot
you losin' nightly 'til you're an old coot

gee, Jim, you're always entertaining
but only when it's snowing or raining
or loving sweety's doing paperwork
CAREFUL, folks may believe a verse!
