rebuilding love and trust, here we are ... after the burn, and with true yearning ... where our lonely, homecoming hearts ... have wept well past all wet bitterness ... filling yards of dry lakes over loss--dry ... to unbalanced, vertigo'd, out of control ... we begin to feel cracks like fault lines ... so tears flow in streams to new rivers ... flooding faults, cutting deeper troughs ... etching lines across our minds, faces ... we feel little security, even homeless ... and for homeless hearts long enough ... in packing boxes and/or paper shacks ... surviving, then consider building anew ... or falling into ruins; even there, we rise ... we do not build new life, love, relations ... with the jagged flawed bricks of the old ... instead, we seek to build with the best ... we shave stubble and from that rubble ... in bringing in one strong brick at a time ... set a foundation nothing can take down ... where new love can rise, as we agreed
