When I was young I fell in love With the fairest of them all, Now I'm old and from above A new love comes to call. Her hair is like the raven's wing, Her eyes of wonderous huge, A smile that makes this old heart sing With joy and gladness too. A pair of hands that clutch my heart In an ecstasy of pain, Slender fingers that place apart An epoch of life again. She's such a dainty little tyke, A joy just to hold. A shining little treasure like One made from Heaven's gold. And may she go through life as sweet And carefree as she is today, On happy, useful, willing feet Walk carefully life's rugged way. And when this fleeting life is past And to our just rewards we go, I'll see my brand new love atlast, Sweet little darling Shelia Jo. |
