hanging from narrow ledges

senses rise in sweet perfume
and fresh garlic in the kitchen
an old spice in the bathroom
we both set the dinner table
lively music, the latest label
listening to you croon
lay out fork and spoon
every word has a meaning
far beyond the book shelf
then into you leaning, teaming

reciting every letter
of "I love you"
our coming together
admitting none too soon
