Love, Virtual Aisle 6

I bought love on eBay last Tuesday
It cost me $4.95 plus shipping and handling.
I hadn’t realized that love could be so cheap.
I thought I had purchased overnight shipping
But it came 3 days later.
It seems that love doesn’t always arrive when you want it to.
I opened the box and asked love to come to me.
Instead, it ran to the refrigerator and ate the chicken potpie and a bowlful of grapes.
Apparently love needs feeding before you can use it.
I told love it would have to wait in the living room while I took a shower
But it insisted on following me and flooding the bathroom with water from my sink.
I guess you can’t tell love what to do.
I figured love would like to watch an old romantic film on the classics channel, but
It grabbed the remote and changed it to that new action flick everyone’s talking about.
Love sure is unpredictable.
I offered love a book to read
Love accepted it, and then suddenly ran over and dropped it on my foot.
It’s true that love can hit you without a warning.
I asked love to sit for a picture.
It beamed gracefully, but at the last minute decided to scowl as my camera flashed.
I found that love can sometimes be ugly. And sometimes beautiful.
As we fell asleep, love seemed to finally enjoy being with me.
When I woke up I found no love, only an empty letter saying nothing and everything.
I checked the box, and I found that there was no guarantee that love would still be here in the morning.
Obviously you can’t make love stay when it doesn’t want to.
I bought some more love today
This time I upgraded and paid $19.95.
It should arrive in a day and a half.
Maybe this love will be different.
Maybe it will stay.
