You never notice when we speak, what your voice does, do you? The shift occurs in inches, a gentle transition from what the world expects to who you are when its just us? I wonder if those who know you best would even know the sound that brushes the hair from my eyes, and lingers a beat longer than some would count as polite? Your voice gives me fleece to ward the night chill, and your words are not always soft but i can hear the care in them, spoken like you do, giving voice to what we do not speak, but what i feel like chenille or silk, or the rasp of velvet on your tongue when you give it voice. |
