Too soon in the season to dangle spring before your hungry eyes, like a ripe sugarplum dear one--- so I must settle for cold air pleasures, and instead of doing a Salome Dance, I will meet you in mittens, bundled to the cool and ask you to teach me the knack of tapping the trees for their sap. You gave me directions once--- but I would rather you show me how to score the bark, and will feel less silly laying my lips against the sapling if you do it first sweet man. So teach this city girl a low tech trick--- a pleasure I have never known. In spring I may hunger for the honeysuckle trump, but right now I am avid to taste the maple if you would be so kind and show me how it's done? |
