Wide Eyed Hope Of Children

In this world of hate, nature is the shape of beauty:
Yet listen to the silence, which belies its latent power:
We believed in our control, our right to rein this world,
Yet, in one tumultuous moment it has changed the way we think,
For all its worth sweet nature knows nothing of right or wrong:
Its explicit doom ignorant as despondency and hope,
Leaving lone bleak wastes, a dowry from an unhappy bride:
Nature's womb set-aside now for this worlds early, mighty, dead:
We add the collateral damage to the count of human cost,
Yet while Europe was at standstill, silent prayers for the tide,
Displaced innocents, the children, hide from evil men,
And car bombs steal lives, where selfish cruelty does not cry,
While for the lost, ears prick up, at the memory of a voice that says:
Mother, Father, son of man, paths decided for those that linger now in disbelief,
The water washed away the world once promised to small hands,
Yet the wide-eyed hope of children still flickers in its wake.
