My Heart Speaks This morning as I awoke The clock was screaming for me to rise While my heart was screaming to hear your voice As I washed my face And began to prepare for the day Moisturizer, foundation, eye makeup Mascara, blush, lipstick....... With each step I thought of you You, in your well-pressed suit Handsome and full of life Already well into your corporate day I am a thousand miles away from you And often so much more As I begin my day With the last sip of coffee And the final squirt of the perfume You brought from the south of France Last summer when you could not Live a day or night without me I am totally smitten and consumed With loving thoughts of you Forgive me, Darling But it once again occurred to me How, in my world, you are larger than life And I am but a slice in yours.
