you will watch the golf channel while i read a book in the bath you are practicing with a new putter while i watch my toes wrinkle and my skin get silky you actually study at the dinner table sometimes and i pretend i don't care but most times we skip the table all together and eat in front of the TV i still love you deeply i like to buy you sweaters and we talk about our days even though i don't understand drug interactions and you certainly don't know what the inside of a dinner rush feels like i like our marriage it is safe and warm and reliable and one day we will reach our goal we'll look back on two years of quiet coexisting and be proud of the journey |
