| You're going to be standing on a mountain top in the middle of nowhere on the Pacific Coast Trail. A bear looking you in the eye and ready for a nice morsel. And in a flash you'll miss me. You'll remember what we had and how very amazing it was for you. You'll remember the time we played Candy Land and made the orange cards "truth" serums. You'll think about the night when you woke up at 3am and I rubbed your back so that you could fall back to sleep. It'll be a time when you recall all of our runs, how we held hands with yours in front always and how you thought me saying "hi" in the morning was adorable. You'll remember how my red librarian shoes turned you on. And then you'll realize you gave me up, pushed me away and ran like hell. And the pain inflicted by these thoughts will be enough that being eaten by a bear will seem a piece of good fortune. |
