My Legacy by Sarah Elizabeth Hume My words burst freely from the tongue of flame. Hint of candle spark, cold silver star, tiny bulb of firefly. There is light captured in ink and pen, there is light in crystal words. For they may shatter and crumble and break, but never do they fade. They linger in dancing iris, bright blue in babies eyes. They open silently on wings of doves, my words do fly to you my love. Keep them safe and closely held these trinkets of my life. For only they shall keep you warm when my hand grows cold and still. When my lips no longer part they shall be your kiss of flesh, a piece of me left to earth. My legacy. |
