Memory by Sarah Elizabeth Hume I am in love with a memory. Long days in dry grassy fields amber blades on bare skin, and there I would lie without an ounce of me exposed and the sky an ocean with its gossamer lined clouds. You were mixed among them, the dreams of childhood and mirth. My raven hair crowned in dandelions and daisies with you never knowing you were always my prince. And I waited there for you in my lost jungle of goldenrod and flaxen wheat, in those sweet days before I knew what it was to lust and my castle was built upon bricks of innocence. I am in love with a memory. |
