I would never change my ways purposefully for you. I will never stop loving Clay Aiken or start wearing a bra when it's hot outside. I will never dress like a sophisticated woman because I'm not and we both know it. I love my flip flops and tank tops and slutty shorts. I will always choose a jazz club over a party and I will always choose having crazy, frisky sex over a romantic candlelit dinner. I will never give up my subscription at thenation.com nor will I let someone give me a pedicure. Feet gross me out. But I have changed in ways I never even noticed. My world doesn't revolve around you- it moves in synch with yours. You are my priority but you are not the only thing in my life that keeps me going. You make my SO happy but you are not my only source of happiness. (I love my dogs) You make me smile but I'm so funny I make myself laugh. You make me dream about a better life but I will work hard to touch my own dreams. You have my heart but I still love myself. Before, I would have made you my world, my only goal, my laughter, my life, my soul. "US" changed me- but only for the better because "I" am still "ME" without the "US" confusing my identity. |
